Attack the ball, get low and balanced.
Position the feet approximately 45 degrees to the ball before pickup.
Prevent gathering the ball too far outside the body.
Hands should present large surface area, extend arms and give with the ball.
Suck the ball into the chest to transition for the throw.

Ground fielding pickup

When ground fielding in front on scenarios:

  1. Attack the ball, get low and balanced.
  2. Position the feet 45 degrees to the ball before pickup.
  3. Get the head behind the ball.
  4. Extend the arms and make a large surface area with the hands.
  5. Give with the ball to the chest.
  6. Watch the ball closely.
  7. Shuffle or crow hop to setup for the throw.
